DVR Alerts: Ricky Gervais on Letterman, Louis CK on Conan (oops!)

Hey folks, I highly suggest you catch Ricky Gervais on Letterman tonight. His last appearance was a riot and I'm sure this one won't disappoint. I watched episode 4 of "Extras" last night and, as if I really need to even say this anymore, it was awesome.

Also, I dropped the ball and forgot to mention one of my favorite comics - Mr. Louis CK - was on Conan last night, be sure to catch the repeat on CNBC at 7 pm today. Louis never disappoints. His HBO special airs on August 19th, and its gonna be f'n awesome!

Crash Test Recap...

Great C-Test last night. Big thanks to all the performers. Our hosts for the evening were old timer comedians Richie Runaround and Tuggs McGee, here's a pic of those two chucklemeisters:

I'd never seen Andy Kindler in person and he did not disappoint. His bit about 80s standup and Robin Williams were amazing. We'll be back next week with Leo Allen, Jon Mullaney, Tom McCafrey, and Roger Hailes. Owen Burke will be co-hosting with me.

Also, special shoutout to the audience from the Best Week Ever Live! show. That was a really fun show. Can't wait for the next BWE show on the 22nd.

Awesome Crash Test Tonight, Random Other Shit.

August 8th Edition of the 'Test is Gonna be Fantastic.

I must say tonight's edition of the 'Test is going to be one of the best ever. First off, my buddy Seth "Soon to leave us for UCB-LA" Morris and I are co-hosting (but we may hand it off to friar's era comedians Tuggs McGee and Richie Runaround). Our lineup? Ridonk. Ted Alexandro, Slovin and Allen, Todd Hanson from the Onion, and special guest from LA - Andy Kindler! I'm really pumped to see Kindler, I've never seen him live. Duder had a full writeup in the NY Times yesterday! How's that for big time?

Make your reservations here.

Best Week Ever Live! at 8 pm

If you're a pansy that can't handle that show and needs to get to bed early, I'm doing Best Week Ever Live! at the UCB Theatre at 8pm. Its me, fellow Shutterbug Rob Huebel, Jessi Klein, and fellow Season 9 Premium Blend-er Pete Holmes. I'm talking about R. Kelly and doing 10 minutes of standuppin' (emphasis on pop culture bits).

Broken Flowers is awesome.

I also saw "Broken Flowers" last night. It was f'n awesome. Does it even need to be said that Bill Murray was amazing? You can just look at that poster and tell that he's the man and that he's gonna put on another killer performance. I also loved Jeffrey Wright as his neighbor, the character is f'n amazing and I wish there some more screentime for him. Also, hilarious (but also unfortunately brief) performance from Christopher McDonald as Ron (he played the game show host in "Requiem for a Dream".) Anyway, check it out. Also saw a preview for some new movie Wes Anderson is producing starring Jeff Daniels and the kid from "Rodger Dodger" that looked pretty cool. Too lazy to IMDB it for the name.

Brian Jonestown Massacre last weekend...

With all the Jeff Mangum business (reunion talk where are you?), I forgot to mention I saw the Brian Jonestown Massacre at Bowery last weekend. Anton was in full-on "Dig"-mode, going apeshit and shouting random stuff at audience members. They did a few songs though and there were frustrating glimpses of how awesome a BJM show could be if Anton would cool it. Anyway, here's two mp3s of two amazing songs they did that I've been rocking lately:

Brian Jonestown Massacre - Nevertheless

Brian Jonestown Massacre - Swallowtail

Once again Extras is amazing. Also Matt-$ sees RG in NYC!

Anyone who has seen the Ross Kemp episode of "Extras" (Episode 2), please email me, I'm running out of people to enjoy the awesomeness of it with. So many great quotes, its insane. I've watched it like 4 times already.

Oh! Ricky is in NYC right now! Matt-$ of Idle at Work fame saw Ricky Gervais in a restaurant in Soho. $ stared at him and then Gervais stared back. Matt-$ goes "Hi." Ricky says "Hi" back. I'm so jealous. Gervais will be on Letterman on Friday. The last appearance he did on Letterman was so hilarious, can't wait to see him this week.
